Counterpointe Sustainable Real Estate rolled out their new Green Roof Financing program to help property owners finance green roof installation and maintenance at Green Roofs for Healthy Cities sponsored CitiesAlive: 15th Annual Green Roof and Wall Conference
Not only does the program finance the upfront costs of the installation, it also can finance all related work such as stairs, elevators and roofing structural work in addition to other energy efficiency and conservation improvements to the property. Providing a lower blended capital rate for ground-up construction as well as retrofits, green roofs can now be financed with net positive cash flow from utility and stormwater management savings. Program is currently available in 16 states in participating jurisdictions. Presenting the new program at the conference to the green roof industry, CounterpointeSRE projected that the program may help turn green roofs from a debated desired amenity into an operating expense reduction through the low annual fixed rate payments afforded by the long amortization schedule available through the program. Green walls that increase energy efficiency may also be eligible for financing as well as all other PACE eligible improvements. With generally two to four scheduled payments wired directly to installers, the new program has been welcomed with open arms by the green roof industry.
